Everyone has their own way of remembering loved ones who have passed away. Many families have special traditions to honor those they’ve lost, and it’s important that these traditions are respected.
Unfortunately, that hasn’t been the case for Mark Rosenthal’s family. Mark passed away 13 years ago, but his family still visits his grave to celebrate his life.
For Mark’s family, visiting his grave helps them feel connected to him and makes the pain of his loss a little easier to bear. Despite their good intentions, they have faced criticism online for how they choose to remember him.
Robin Rosenthal lost her husband Mark in 2010 and has been raising their two children, Sam and Emma, on her own in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Keeping Mark’s memory alive is very important to Robin and the kids, so they started sharing videos online of their visits to his grave.
In one video from June 2022, the family shared a throwback Father’s Day picnic they had at Mark’s grave, where they enjoyed a lunch together.

In a short video meant to be funny, Emma and Robin Rosenthal are shown eating sandwiches at Mark’s grave for Father’s Day. Sam, their son, says, “Father’s Day lunch with Dad!” and then asks where Mark is.
Robin replies, “Down there, in the ground,” and offers a fry to Mark’s grave.
Although the Rosenthal family wanted to celebrate Mark’s life in a special way, not everyone liked their video. Here are some comments from viewers:
“Creepy, that mom,” one person said.
“I’m speechless, it’s so disrespectful,” another commented.
“Lack of respect,” wrote a third.
“This is weird. They have sauce all over their mouths, and the dancing while sitting is uncomfortable to watch,” a fourth person added.
The video was meant to be a loving tribute, but it sparked mixed reactions online.
