Apple warns iPhone users about alarm issue as more and more people complain about oversleeping

Apple has issued a statement after users reported that their iPhone alarms were not going off.

Many iPhone users have complained about incidents where they have overslept because their alarm, built into the Clock app of the device, failed to wake them up.

A few people took to different social media platforms to speak about the issue surrounding the wake-up tool.

One TikTok user posted a video, telling their followers: “This has probably been the third or fourth day in a row that my alarm clock has not gone off,” while another user shared on X (formerly Twitter): “I’ve had this issue for over a year. It’s really frustrating,”

Someone commented on a post about the problem that they “had it happen today lol. I check my phone and I see the alarm UI and no audio. Very frustrating.”

An X user also wrote that they “had to check a few times to see if I turned it off [the alarm] by mistake,” and added: “It just decides randomly not to work on some days.”

One woman shared a clip on TikTok – which has amassed nearly 10m views and 1m likes – that their iPhone 15 alarm had gone off at “the lowest volume” and claimed the problem was related to an “attention aware” feature being enabled on their phone.

“Apple are you trying to get people fired?” she questioned.

According to Sky News, Apple has confirmed that it’s aware that there is a problem with some alarms not playing a sound as expected and is working to fix it.

They did not disclose how many people have been affected by the issue, what may be causing or, or what users can do to remedy it.

It has also not been revealed if the bug is only prevalent in particular iPhone models or a specific version of its iOS software.

Apple users are being recommended to visit the company’s online support page on alarms, which explains how to control the alarm volume via the “Sounds & Haptics” feature under settings.

It notes that the “do not disturb” and “silent mode” options do not affect the alarm sound. “| If you use the Ring/Silent switch or Action button to turn on Silent mode or turn on Do Not Disturb, the alarm still sounds,” they explained.

The page also advises that users check their alarm sound is not set to “none,” adding: “Open the Clock app, tap the Alarms tab, then tap Edit. Tap the alarm, then tap Sound, and choose a Sound.”
