Hudson shares her younger son with ex Matt Bellamy
Kate Hudson’s son is already preparing for his future.
Speaking to PEOPLE for this week’s cover story, the actress and singer, 45, revealed that her son Bingham, 12, has already taken an interest in the financial world. Hudson, who released her debut album, Glorious, on Friday, May 17, shares her younger son with ex Matt Bellamy, and is also mom to son Ryder, 20, whom she shares with ex Chris Robinson, and daughter Rani, 5, whom she shares with fiancé Danny Fujikawa.
“He really is into the stock market and has been for years,” Hudson, who released her debut album, Glorious, on Friday, May 17, says of Bing. “And so he trades his own stocks. He reads at 12, he reads the news about where things are.”
“He knows the class of each stock and each bond and all this stuff. It’s crazy. So he’ll be very interesting to watch grow up,” she adds.
As for Hudson’s son Ryder, the star says that although the two have a real friendship, she will always be his mom.
“But because I guess I was young when I had him, it’s a different relationship than with my other kids. So he’s seen me through all of my good times, my bad times, this boyfriend, not that boyfriend,” Hudson shares.
“He’s seen me through it all. And that’s very different because I never had an adult life really without him,” she notes of Ryder, who inspired the track “Live Forever” from Hudson’s new album. “So it’s a little, I think more protective, meaning I think he’s very protective of me. And then I think my other kids will be, because we’ve been through so much together.”
“I mean, he really was my partner in crime, and I never went anywhere without him,” the mom of three shares. “So it’s very, very close. And I think, yeah, he does get protective.”
Hudson describes her daughter as more of a “firecracker,” noting that she’s already interested in Hudson’s wardrobe.
“She’s the best. She’s so magical,” the proud mom says. “She’s definitely her mother’s daughter. It takes her forever to get out of the house. She’s very particular about her wardrobe and her clothes and her vibe.”
“She is just a total firecracker, but then she’s much more emotional than I think I was when I was little. She’s much more of an empath where I was like, yeah. She’s just very empathetic and emotional,” Hudson notes.
In January, Hudson spoke to PEOPLE about prioritizing making time for her three kids at the end of a busy work day.
“I am busy, I am really busy, but my day is done at 5:00 p.m., and I am in that kitchen making them something,” Hudson said.
Even though she tries to balance work and quality time with her family, the Almost Famous star said that her busy lifestyle sometimes makes it challenging to always be around.
“It’s hard to get it together when you are a working mom, and it was especially hard when I was a single mom,” she noted. “But at the end of the day, I want people to not put so much pressure on themselves.”
