Shannen Doherty is being remembered by her “Beverly Hills, 90210” co-stars following her death.
“I am still processing my tremendous grief over the loss of my long time friend Shannen, the woman I have often described as one of the strongest people I have ever known,” Jennie Garth, who played Kelly Taylor, posted on Instagram Sunday.
“Our connection was real and honest. We were so often pitted against each other but none of that reflected the truth of our real relationship which was one built on mutual respect and admiration. She was courageous, passionate, determined and very loving and generous.”
Garth, 52, added, “I will miss her and will always honor her deeply in my heart and in my memories. My heart breaks for her family and Bowie .”
“I don’t have outward words yet…but WE knew and that’s what matters,” Tori Spelling, who played Donna Martin, shared on her Instagram Story Sunday.
“Shocked and saddened to hear about the passing of my friend Shannen,” Jason Priestley penned on Instagram Sunday alongside a throwback photo of him and the late actress.
“She was a force of nature and I will miss her. Sending love and light to her family in this dark time.”
Priestley, 54, played Brandon Walsh, the twin brother of Doherty’s Brenda Walsh, on the hit high school drama series.
“Shan. My sister … you loved me through everything,” Brian Austin Green, who portrayed David Silver, wrote on his Instagram Story.
“You were a big part of my understanding of love. I’ll miss you more than I know how to process right now. Thank you for the gift of you .”
Gabrielle Carteris, who played Andrea Zuckerman, posted a photo of the sky on her Instagram feed to commemorate Doherty.
“So young – so sad. May you RIP Shannon,” she captioned the snapshot. “I know Luke is there with open arms to love you.”
Their co-star Luke Perry unexpectedly died of a stroke in 2019 at the age of 52.
Carol Potter, who played Doherty and Priestley’s mom in the series, shared a photo of the setting sun on her Instagram feed.
“Shocked and saddened by news of Shannon Doherty’s death. What a journey she has been on! Gone too soon,” she wrote.
“Throughout, she stayed true to herself and gave us an example of courage and perseverance in facing her own death. May she rest in peace..”
Doherty died on Saturday following a years-long battle with breast cancer, which was first discovered in 2015.
After going into remission in 2017, the cancer came back at stage 4 in 2019. It then metastasized to her brain in 2023 and to her bones by November of that year.
Doherty was open about her journey with cancer over the years and even admitted in April that she was going through her belongings to make things easier for her mom if she died.
“Because it’s going to be so hard on her, I want other things to be a lot easier. I don’t want her to have a bunch of stuff to deal with. I don’t want her to have four storage units filled with furniture,” she explained on her “Let’s Be Clear” podcast.
She also addressed why she believed she was fired from the hit series “Charmed” after its third season.
On her podcast in December 2023, she and former co-star Holly Marie Combs claimed their co-star Alyssa Milano threatened producers with a hostile workplace lawsuit if they didn’t boot her from the show.
While the duo agreed there was tension between the leads, Combs, 50, claimed nothing ever happened to necessitate a lawsuit.
“There are actually people who behave badly and get away with it,” she said. “I don’t think people understand that never happened here.”
Milano, 51, addressed the allegations in front of fans at MegaCon Orlando in February and said the whole situation was “sad.”
However, she was one of the first people to speak out about Doherty’s death on Sunday and sent condolences “to all who loved her.”
“It’s no secret that Shannen and I had a complicated relationship, but at its core was someone I deeply respected and was in awe of,” she told Page Six.
“She was a talented actress, beloved by many, and the world is less without her.”
